Unplugged Bialik is thrilled to announce our first dedicated parent speaker, Katy Albert, who will present Let's Talk Tech: Taking Collective and Individual Action.
Technology is a powerful tool! Depending on how we use it, it can either enhance our lives — making them more convenient, connected, exciting, and productive — or it can have the opposite effect. This workshop is designed to help parents navigate technology use in their families in ways that align with their unique values and circumstances. This workshop is for all parents, regardless of their views on technology use in their families.
In this session, parents will:
- Explore both collective and individual actions that can help mitigate the impact of technology on child and youth mental health
- Reflect on which technologies are positively or negatively affecting their family’s well-being
- Learn practical strategies for setting healthy boundaries, even when it feels difficult
- Receive guidance on reasonable limits (selecting devices, using parental controls, transitioning off devices) and other tools to support safe and balanced tech use
